Stock Papers
As you may be aware, there is a vast choice of Inkjet Photo / Giclee Fine Art papers on the market now - ranging from supermarket own label packs through to hand made papers produced in small quantities by dedicated craftsmen. Although there has been a lot written about individual papers and independent reviews and comparisons in magazines and on websites, these can't always be relied upon when it comes to choosing papers to work with. Sorting through the mass of information and samples was a major task when Digital PFP was being set up - much more time consuming than we ever imagined.
After extensive testing we decided to stock 7 papers which should cover the majority of clients' requirements - and our demanding requirements for quality, consistency, availability and "feel". As image quality was our prime requirement, we didn't consider cost as part of our initial assessment. Fine Art papers from Hahnemühle fared particularly well in our trials and four of their papers have been selected for our stock line.
We hope the following descriptions will help you choose the most suitable paper for your images. If you would like to see samples of our papers please get in touch through the Contact Us page and we will gladly send samples. We would be pleased to consider using specific alternative papers for your images if you have special requirements which are not covered by our stock papers.
Photo Glossy (270gsm)
Our standard paper in this category is a bright white, smooth surface, high gloss paper which performs particularly well with our printers. Economic and particularly suited to highly vivid colour images with bright highlights and deep shadows.
Photo Lustre (270gsm)
This is from the same manufacturer as our stock Photo Glossy Paper - also with a particularly bright white appearance. The lustre finish gives a less reflective surface than the gloss making it more suitable for display under bright lights. It is also much less prone to picking up fingerprints during handling. Particularly suitable for portraiture.
Photo Matte (240gsm)
A clean, white, very smooth matt paper with ultra image sharpness. At 240gsm this paper a sumptuous feel and appearance. The exceptionally low metamerism in this paper gives it high credentials for the monochrome specialist. Economic, and ideal for competion and display prints.
Fine Art Baryta (325gsm)
Hahnemühle Fine Art Baryta 325gsm is a brilliant white high gloss paper that sets the bench mark for high colour depth, large colour gamut and image definition. This paper gives the 'wow' factor particularly to black and white prints with an extremely high dmax and the finest grey tones. It is a unique experience to touch and feel this genuine art paper. Using barium sulphate in the premium inkjet coating ensures the typical gloss that makes this paper a genuine digital replacement for traditional baryta papers from analogue laboratories.

FineArt Pearl is Hahnemühle's response to growing demand for a superior, fibre-based fine art media that has the look and feel of traditional darkroom paper. Remarkably similar to a traditional silver gelatine double-weight photo paper, FineArt Pearl delivers the deepest blacks, brightest whites and deep, vibrant colours. As with all Hahnemühle papers, FineArt Pearl has been developed to the highest standards with exceptional 'archivability' and quality consistency as well as the highest achievable dmax and brightness currently available on the market.
